The difference between Dongguan Jianxu electronic Ethernet transformer and industrial Ethernet

Time:2022-08-30 Views:451
Industrial Ethernet is the Ethernet used in the industrial field. Generally, the data link layer and physical layer use the current commercial Ethernet standards, and the application layer is redefined by various manufacturers, such as Siemens PROFINET, B&R POWERLINK, etc. It is to make Ethernet have the performance of real-time transmission, which is more suitable for the use requirements of industrial sites. However, commercial Ethernet is designed for office automation and does not fully meet the requirements of industrial environments and standards.
The differences between Industrial Ethernet and Commercial Ethernet are as follows:
1. Real-time communication
In industrial control systems, real-time can be defined as the measurability of the system‘s response time to an event. That is, after an event occurs, the system must respond within an accurately foreseeable time frame. However, the real-time requirements of data transmission in industry are very strict, and the update of data is often completed within tens of milliseconds. And also due to the CSMA/CD mechanism of the Ethernet, when a conflict occurs, the data has to be retransmitted, and it can be tried up to 16 times. Clearly this conflict resolution mechanism comes at a cost of time. And once the disconnection occurs, even if it is only a few seconds, it may cause the stop of the entire production or even the equipment and personal safety accidents.
2. Certainty of communication
The biggest feature of the industrial control network is that it must meet the real-time requirements of the control function, that is, the signal transmission must be fast enough and meet the certainty of the signal. Real-time control often requires accurate and timed refresh of data for certain variables. Since Ethernet adopts CSMA/CD mode, when the network load is large, the uncertainty of network transmission cannot meet the real-time requirements of industrial control. Therefore, traditional Ethernet technology cannot meet the real-time requirements of control system requirements for accurate timing communication. for "non-deterministic" networks.
3. Security
In the process of industrial production, there are inevitably flammable, explosive or toxic gases in many sites. For the intelligent devices and communication equipment used in these industrial sites, certain explosion-proof technical measures must be taken to ensure the safe production of industrial sites. . Under the current technical conditions, it is more feasible to adopt explosion-proof and explosion-proof measures for the Ethernet system, that is, by adopting explosion-proof measures such as increased safety, airtightness, and encapsulation for the Ethernet field equipment, the ignition energy generated by the failure of the field equipment itself can be reduced. Do not leak to ensure the security of system operation. For non-hazardous occasions without strict intrinsic safety requirements, complex explosion-proof measures may not be considered. (Today‘s forwarding code: Yiwei company slogan: trust comes from quality; trust creates brand)
Cybersecurity of industrial systems is another security issue that must be considered for industrial Ethernet applications. Industrial Ethernet can integrate the traditional three-layer network system of the enterprise, namely the information management layer, the process monitoring layer, and the field device layer, so that the data transmission rate is faster, the real-time performance is higher, and it can be seamlessly integrated with the Internet. Realize the sharing of data and improve the operation efficiency of the factory. However, it also raises a series of network security issues. Industrial networks may be subject to network security threats including virus infection, illegal intrusion and illegal operations by hackers.
4. High stability and reliability
The traditional Ethernet transformer was not designed for industrial applications at the beginning of the design, and did not consider the harsh working conditions of the industrial site environment, severe inter-line interference, and harsh conditions such as machinery, climate, and dust, and the resistance of Ethernet. Interference (EMI) performance is very poor and is not intrinsically safe when used in hazardous locations. Therefore, higher requirements are placed on the industrial reliability of the equipment. At the same time, the industrial network must have good reliability, recoverability, and maintainability in the production environment. That is to ensure that when any component in a network system fails, it will not cause the application, operating system, or even the network system to crash and paralyze.
5. Bus power supply problem
Bus power (or bus feed) refers to the fact that cables connected to field devices not only transmit data signals, but also provide operating power to the field devices. Ethernet has not considered this problem from the beginning of its design, and there are a large number of bus power requirements in industrial fields.
Because of the above problems, ordinary commercial Ethernet cannot be directly used for industrial field control. In order to solve these problems, Industrial Ethernet came into being.
